Mr. Rulong Ban

I received my B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Jinggangshan University in 2019 and my M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Guilin University of Technology in 2022. During my master’s studies, my research mainly focused on contaminated soil remediation and carbon dioxide sequestration. Since September 2022, I have been a Ph.D. student in Geology at the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Hefei University of Technology. My current research primarily focuses on solid waste valorization and microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP), particularly the integration of phosphogypsum with MICP for the stabilization of tailings sand, with the aim of achieving the sustainable goal of “using waste to treat waste.” In addition, I am also involved in microfluidic chip techniques to elucidate the formation patterns and crystal morphology of calcite during the MICP process. In March 2026, I joined the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics at TUHH as a joint Ph.D. student.
