Dr. Hassan Dashtian

Hassan Dashtian is a Research Assistant Professor at the Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has a deep passion for understanding complex natural and human systems through computational and data-driven methods. With a background bridging geosciences, computing, and engineering, Hassan combines satellite observations, AI models, and physics-based simulations to study phenomena ranging from hurricanes and floods to subsurface processes.

His expertise spans computational science, data analytics, machine learning, and large-scale numerical modeling often working at the intersection of energy, environment, and social systems. He has hands-on experience with cloud computing, distributed systems, and real-time data streaming frameworks. Whether modeling climate impacts or exploring how social behaviors respond to environmental stress, Hassan thrives on multidisciplinary collaboration and using data to build more resilient and responsive systems.
