Looking Back and Moving Forward

As we launch our new website, we’re taking a look back at an exciting first half of the year: plenty of workshops, numerous guided tours, a successful appearance at the Maker Faire Hannover, upgrades in the workshop – and even a feature in Spektrum magazine.

With the relaunch of the WorkINGLab website, we’d like to give a brief insight into what has happened over the past months. Our spaces have once again hosted a wide range of regular workshops and safety inductions – from 3D printing (CAD) and soldering to using oscilloscopes and learning the basics of wood and metal work. Demand continues to grow, and in addition to our courses, we’ve welcomed many student groups, school classes, and guests from across TUHH.

A highlight in the media: the WorkINGLab was featured with a double-page spread in Spektrum magazine – something we were especially proud of. Another major milestone was our booth at the 2025 Maker Faire in Hannover, where students helped run the stand and took the chance to explore the fair and gather new ideas. We were also delighted to round off the semester with a visit from Ms. Sick-Glaser and Mr. Bay of the Erwin and Gisela Sick Foundation.

Behind the scenes, there’s been just as much progress: our 3D printer pool has been restructured and expanded. We’ve introduced SimplyPrint as our new 3D printing platform, added more printers, and installed a versatile multi-cutting device. At the same time, we’ve optimized the workspace layout and workflows in the lab.

Looking ahead, we’re planning new and extended workshop formats for the upcoming semester. We’ll also be introducing a new booking system soon, making registration and waiting lists much easier to manage. If you have ideas for future workshop topics or would like to contribute one yourself, feel free to reach out to the WorkINGLab team: workinglab(at)tuhh.de.
