Alejandro holds both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Materials Science from TU Berlin and brings with him hands-on experience in material science and additive manufacturing - a perfect fit for the ambitious goals of his Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation reserach project. He will be working on a cutting-edge international research collaboration focused on improving the sustainability and efficiency of porcelain tile manufacturing. The project brings together Technische Universität Hamburg and Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil) and combines flowsheet simulation, CFD modeling, and data-driven process optimization to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions in the ceramics industry. From digital twin models of roller kilns to simulation of black-core formation and liquid-phase sintering - Alejandro will play a key role in integrating these complex processes into the multiscale simulation framework using flowsheet simulation tool Dyssol.
