DynTwin

Project description

The aim of the project is to analyze dynamic operating conditions of wind turbines in which temperature-related power reductions or shutdowns occur. The focus here is on situations in which the limit temperature in components such as the turbine's converter is exceeded not only as a result of stationary boundary conditions (wind speed and ambient temperature), but also due to the dynamics of the turbine's overall thermal system. This behavior can be improved by specifically adapting the design and operation of the cooling system, which leads to higher plant availability. This results in a reduction in CO2 emissions. In order to investigate the influence of dynamic operating conditions, a dynamic simulation model of the entire cooling system of the wind turbine is to be developed and validated with measurement data.
