From the initial consultation to the launch: Startup Port @TUHH supports start-up teams every step of the way – with personalised advice, funding expertise, training, infrastructure and a strong network within the TUHH, the Startup Port network and the Hamburg metropolitan region.
Three phases define the process of setting up your own business:
1. Initial consultation and exploration – identifying potential, refining the project
The journey begins with a request for an initial consultation. In a face-to-face meeting, we clarify the fundamental aspects of the project and your personal motivation, and discuss the next steps. In the subsequent exploratory phase, the business model is refined, funding options are explored and individual support requirements are clarified.
2. Joining – Becoming part of Startup Port @TUHH
If the project aligns with the support on offer, you will join Startup Port @TUHH.
This includes, amongst other things:
a structured onboarding pitch
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a shared basis for collaboration
the visible badge: ‘Docked @TUHH’
Onboarding marks the start of the intensive support phase. Teams gain access to a comprehensive range of support services tailored to their individual stage of development and specific needs.
Personal advice & individual support
Teams receive personal advice and regular meetings to plan the next stages of development together. Progress reports and defined milestones help to track the development process in a structured manner.
Business model & financing
We support teams in further developing their business model and preparing for the next steps in securing funding.
This includes:

Planning and preparation of funding options
Support in identifying suitable grant schemes and further funding partners
Skills development
Startup Port @TUHH offers various training formats through which participants can acquire all the necessary skills to successfully run a business. These include:
Workshops on various topics relevant to starting a business

Tailored offers from Startup Port @TUHH based on individual needs
A specialised programme for female founders, addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by women when starting a business

Starting a business cannot be done alone. That is why Startup Port @TUHH offers a wide range of opportunities to make relevant contacts and build your own network:

Spaces & Infrastructure
The TUHH’s own start-up centre offers teams space to develop their ideas. Depending on individual needs, the following facilities are available, amongst others:
Office spaces
Meeting rooms
A small workshop
Spacious areas for events and functions
Areas for shared lunches, discussions and networking
And, of course, the chance to play a game of table tennis or table football in between
In addition, teams gain access to the TUHH Makerspace and the TUHH workshop, enabling them not only to develop ideas but also to put them into practice and build prototypes.
3. Graduation – ready for the next step
The next stage of the start-up journey begins with the company’s incorporation or the commencement of business operations. As part of a graduation pitch, the team can present its development path and the milestones achieved.
The visible sign of this: “Undocked @TUHH”.
The support phase is generally designed to last 18 months. This provides a clear framework within which teams can drive their development forward, achieve key milestones and take the next step towards becoming an independent company.
