Studying Naval Architecture in Hamburg at TUHH offers the advantage of being in close proximity to the port and the industry. As part of the “Ship Structural Design” course, we joined Prof. Wirz and students from the Department of Marine Engineering for our annual visit aboard a Hapag-Lloyd container ship (Ningbo Express). The visit focused on aspects of container loading, structural details such as plate thickness variation, and the machinery (Prof. Wirz).
