Integrated Energy Systems: Operation

The coupling of electricity, heat, and gas sectors offers diverse opportunities for the flexible integration of renewable energy sources, efficient utilization of energy storage systems, and improved security of supply in future energy systems. However, the secure, economical, and sustainable operation of such integrated energy systems requires innovative control, optimization, and automation solutions. Following this vision, ieet focuses on the following key topics:

  • Resilience-, economic-, and sustainability-oriented operation of coupled energy networks with high penetration of renewable energy sources
  • Development of control and optimization methods for real-time operation of integrated energy systems
  • Operational integration of energy storage systems in converter-dominated energy systems
  • Data-driven, AI-based, and cyber-physical methods for monitoring, analysis, and operation of integrated energy systems
