Rebecca Plant received the Best Master Thesis Award 2023 from the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Germany Chapter for her thesis "Estimation of Power System Inertia in an Inverter-Dominant Distribution Grid Using Machine Learning", submitted at the Institute of Electrical Power and Energy Technology (ieet) at TUHH. The thesis was supervised by Simon Stock. The official award ceremony took place during the PES Germany Chapter Workshop "Future Energy Systems" at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. We warmly congratulate Rebecca Plant on this award.

Revisiting TenneT: TUHH students and ieet staff were privileged to once again enter the operations center of TenneT TSO GmbH in Lehrte, Germany. The TenneT team presented us with the multifaceted challenges of navigating our evolving electricity landscape. A big thank you to Florian Schomaker, Dr. Marc Dokus and Bernd Käßmeyer - without his efforts, these hands-on experiences wouldn't be possible. And the highlight? Switching the 380 kV disconnector, an electrifying experience!

We are excited to announce the result of our project work within the scope of the "Elektrotechnisches Projektpraktikum" - an outstanding Network Demonstrator developed by our dedicated team of students over the past few weeks. With the sponsorship from Bachmann electronic GmbH, we were able to build the amazing demonstrator shown below. The students built a microgrid that can show how electrical systems work in different weather conditions and also what happens when there are failures in the system(e.g. earth faults, line outage).
