Vocational Science of Metal Technology (IBMT)

The Institute for Vocational Science of Metal Technology (IBMT) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg) researches the skills, qualifications, and professional requirements in the field of metal technology. The results of this vocational research are used to design job profiles and further develop vocational teaching and learning processes for initial and continuing education, and are incorporated into commercial and technical teacher training.

In addition, the institute is intensively engaged in researching the effects of technological innovations and transformation processes on education and training. These dynamic changes are leading to continuous change in the occupational field. The Institute for Vocational Science of Metal Technology, headed by Prof. Dr. Lars Windelband, is responsible for training teachers for industrial and technical teaching in the vocational fields of metal technology and automotive engineering.
