What started in April with the motivating call “Catch me if you can!” has now successfully crossed the finish line. The first European Universities Walking Challenge brought together students, researchers, academic staff and university communities from across Europe in a month full of movement, motivation and team spirit.
Over the course of April, participants collected steps every day to help their universities climb the European leaderboard. Every single step counted, as the rankings were based on the average number of steps per participant.
TUHH showed an impressive performance throughout the challenge. A total of 42 TUHH members contributed their steps and helped secure 3rd place among all ECIU partner universities.
Special congratulations go to Sascha, who finished the challenge in 1st place after an incredible final push following his marathon participation on April 25. Second place went to Aditya, while Nithya secured 3rd place overall and became the highest-ranked student participant of the challenge.
The Walking Challenge demonstrated how sports, wellbeing and community spirit can connect people across Europe. Whether during daily walks, runs, marathon preparations or simply by choosing to move more in everyday life, participants collectively contributed to making TUHH visible and active within the ECIU network.
The official prize handover will take place during the Going Abroad Fair on May 6, where the winners will be celebrated together with the ECIU community.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who participated, motivated others and contributed their steps throughout the month. The challenge may be over for now, but the next opportunity is already waiting: the next ECIU Walking Challenge is planned for October 2026.
So, TUHH — are you ready to take even more steps next time?
