At Science Camp:us 2026, BlueMat spokesperson Patrick Huber had the rewarding opportunity to engage directly with an enthusiastic group of teens passionate about science. The camp in Elmshorn is a five-day residential program for students aged 14–16 and is organized by Nordakademie/Hochschule der Wirtschaft. It brings together young people with a strong interest in science and technology. The students can choose from a variety of workshops and projects, exploring topics such as biology, mathematics, robotics, and artificial intelligence. They stay overnight on campus. Throughout the week, they experiment, build, research, and collaborate on hands-on challenges — creating an inspiring environment that nurtures curiosity and real-world problem solving. This is an approach BlueMat truly values and supports as TUHH´s first Cluster of Excellence is committed to learning through interdisciplinary research, experimentation, and collaboration.

Patrick Huber particularly enjoyed witnessing the students’ active involvement in the “Island of the Future” workshop, where they experienced sustainability firsthand — from energy generation and storage technologies to designing an energy-self-sufficient island.
