How to participate

Step 1 – Apply to the Joint MSc Program
Complete the online registration form and submit a short statement of interest.

Step 2 – Complete the mandatory course
Register for Introduction to Climate-Informed Engineering and successfully complete the course.

Step 3 – Complete the required electives
Complete at least three courses from the approved list of electives.

Step 4 – Complete UN online training
Complete at least three approved UN online courses, totaling a minimum of 20 hours.

Step 5 – Complete the experiential component
Complete at least one approved applied activity, such as a research collaboration or internship, journal article, UN case study, workshop, or public outreach product.

Step 6 – Define your MSc thesis topic
Identify a thesis topic aligned with the SDGs and the thematic focus of the UNU Hub on Engineering to Face Climate Change.

Step 7 – Identify a UNU/UN co-supervisor
Together with your TUHH supervisor, identify a suitable researcher within UNU or the wider UN system for thesis co-supervision.

Step 8 – Submit the completion report at the end of your studies
Submit the completion form and required documentation confirming that all program requirements have been fulfilled. The completion form will made available toward the end of the program.

Step 9 – Receive the UNU-INWEH certificate
After verification of all requirements and completion of the TUHH MSc in Environmental Engineering, receive the UNU-INWEH certificate in Climate-Informed Engineering and Sustainability Transitions.
