We were pleased to welcome Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Takors, an international leading expert in sustainable bio-based production processes from the Institute of Biochemical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, to our CRC at the Hamburg University of Technology. In his inspiring lecture he presented microbial gas fermentation using bubble-column bioreactors as a sustainable approach to convert gases into valuable chemicals while minimizing CO2 emissions. His talk emphasizes the impact of gas composition and large-scale reactor heterogeneity on microbial performance, highlighting computational modeling and scale-down methods to optimize reactor design and improve volumetric productivity both in lab and industrial scales.
We sincerely thank Ralf Takors for visiting us and look forward to future collaborations.
