PhD candidate Nanning Jaeschke recently completed a three months research stay with Prof. Walther Chapman's group at Rice University School of Engineering and Computing in the U.S.

During this time, Nanning Jaeschke worked on his CRC project, 'Thermodynamic and Kinetic Modelling of Responsive Materials' (B01). He had the privilege of working closely with our Mercator Fellow, Prof. Walther Chapman, and his research group. Through intensive theoretical discussions on the thermodynamic description of inhomogeneous systems and multicomponent mass transfer, Nanning gained valuable insights that opened up new perspectives for his ongoing research. Another highlight of his stay was presenting his work in a poster session at the 2025 AIChE Annual Meeting in Boston.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Chapman and his team once again, for their inspiring supervision and the warm hospitality that Nanning always received during his visits.
