We were delighted to welcome Professor Jakob Burger from the Technical University of Munich (Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability) to our CRC seminar at the Hamburg University of Technology. In his talk on smart process design, Professor Burger spanned scales from enzymatic reaction cascades to separation processes, showcasing strategies for enzyme network optimization and the use of reinforcement learning for creative process engineering. The visit was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss future directions in sustainable and AI-driven process design.
