The IMS supports the Horst Mühle in the design of a new water mill wheel.
The restaurant Horster Mühle in Horst generates regenerative electrical energy from the water power of the river Seeve via the former mill wheel. The mill wheel used so far has reached the end of its service life. As part of a student thesis, a new and most efficient mill wheel is being designed with the help of the latest engineering methods.
In addition to experimental studies with additively manufactured impellers, the work also includes a simulative optimisation of the mill wheel.
