Duration:01.04.2004 - 31.12.2004

The company Choren has developed a process to fabricate fluid fuels out of solid biomass and hydrogen. In this project measurements at two partial processes where conducted: a) at a prototype gasification facility for the production of bio-coke and b) at the Carbo-V-gasification facility for the production of synthesis gas for subsequent reformation into fuel. The mass and energy balances of the partial processes where drawn using results gathered from measurement campaigns.

For that purpose the operation of each facility was accompanied for one week and all data necessary to close the balances were acquired. Furthermore, the biomass composition (C, H, N, O) and its water content, the composition of the bio-coke (ash, C), the slag, the condensate from the gas scrubbing and the final product streams including their composition where analysed.

Based on the measurement results the conversion efficiencies were evaluated for the production of synthetic fuels out of biomass and hydrogen.
