Dr. Salome Shokri-Kuehni is a chemical and environmental engineer working across environmental research, science policy, and international programme development. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester and completed a postdoc at Imperial College London. Her research interests span water and environmental systems, from fluid flow in porous media and soil salinity to microplastics in soil and the wider policy and governance dimensions of natural resource-related challenges.

At TUHH, she is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics, where she teaches on emerging trends in environmental research, microplastics, and applied fieldwork in water and environmental science.

Alongside her academic role, she works as Academic Partnerships Coordinator at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH), developing international partnerships and multi-stakeholder programmes in water, natural resources, and food systems. Her work brings together academia, the UN system, international organizations, industry, and practitioners to translate scientific expertise into programmes with practical and policy relevance. Before joining UNU-INWEH, she worked as a Scientific Advisor and Programme Manager, advising the German Federal Government on science and research policy and managing national and international research funding programmes.
