Models of perception, action selection, and consciousness. Jesse van Oostrum is a PhD student in mathematics with applications to cognitive sciences, supervised by Prof. Nihat Ay. He studies Bayesian networks, information geometry, and the Fisher-Rao gradient of the evidence lower bound. His recent work includes a concise mathematical description of active inference in discrete time.
