Welcome to the Institute for Quantum Inspired and Quantum Optimization at the Hamburg University of Technology

The Institute for Quantum Inspired and Quantum Optimization was established on 11/1/2022 and will be expanded in the coming months.
Our work focuses on fundamental research on various quantum computing aspects with the goal of achieving a useful quantum advantage:
- Quantum system characterization (a.k.a. QCVV),
e.g. quantum tomography, randomized benchmarking, shadow estimation - Quantum algorithms
- Gate synthesis and Hamiltonian engineering
- Combinatorial optimization
- Quantum error correction
- Classical simulation of complex quantum systems
- Methods: applied math, computational complexity, compressed sensing, convex and non-convex optimization, representation theory, random matrix theory, tensor networks
