3rd Workshop on Wireless Communications with Seoul National University

On 28th and 29th of August, 2017, a joint workshop on wireless communications took place with members of Seoul National University (SNU) and the Institute of Communications (INT) of TUHH. Being the third workshop of its kind, the meeting was hosted by INT in Hamburg this time. It is part of a German-Korean Partnership Program (GenKO), which is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).

The visiting Korean delegation of Ph.D. students and postdocs was headed by Prof. Jae Hong Lee and Prof. Byonghyo Shim. They were welcomed by Prof. Gerhard Bauch and his team at INT. The workshop program provided 11 presentations in total, which offered the opportunity to discuss many different research areas and to identify common interests in the field of wireless communications. A broad range of current topics was covered, such as cognitive radio, multiple access schemes, user cooperation, localization, as well as channel coding techniques and compressed sensing for 5G. The talks were accompanied by in-depth technical discussions.

The scientific program was complemented by a social event at the restaurant “Bootshaus” on the shores of the lake “Außenmühlenteich” in Hamburg-Harburg, where the participants were served dinner. Moreover, they could continue the technical and inter-cultural discussions in a relaxing atmosphere and enjoy the lake scenery at sunset.
