We are delighted to share that our joint paper "Assignment of Orders in Horizontal Transport at Seaport Container Terminals", authored by researchers from the Institute of Production Management and Technology and Institute of Maritime Logistics was published at the 4th International Conference on Logistics and Maritime Systems (LOGMS 2026).
We are especially proud that our paper has been selected as one of the Best Papers of the conference proceedings to be recommended for consideration in a forthcoming special issue of the International Journal of Production Research (IJPR).
The paper investigates the assignment of transport orders to terminal trucks in horizontal transport at seaport container terminals. By comparing different assignment strategies, we analyze their impact on the productivity of STS-cranes and overall terminal performance using simulation and Logistic Operating Curves.
Our findings show that flexible transport order assignment can enhance the resilience and operational performance of seaport container terminals under challenging operating conditions. The study also identifies late-assignment strategies as a promising approach to further improve terminal efficiency.
