On 9–10 July 2026, our institute director Carlos Jahn and his scientific staff gathered at THE OCEAN'S in Timmendorfer Strand. Not for vacation, but for the annual PhD Retreat, bringing together both internal and external participants.
The retreat combined academic exchange with collaborative learning through interactive group activities. Participants presented and discussed each other's research using posters, exchanged feedback, and explored key topics such as developing strong research questions, validation strategies, and overcoming common research challenges. In addition, everyone had the opportunity to take part in an individual consultation session with Prof. Carlos Jahn, receiving valuable feedback and guidance for their research. Beyond the academic program, we rounded off the event with a canoe tour through Lübeck's historic old town – a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our team spirit while discovering the city from the water. 🛶
