Teaching

Covering fundamental fields of modern civil and environmental engineering, the Institute of Digital and Autonomous Construction (IDAC) offers courses in a broad variety of areas. In addition to teaching fundamentals of civil and environmental engineering, the IDAC team permanently integrates current trends and recent developments of research and engineering practice into the courses. In consequence, not only attractive and balanced courses are provided, but also the needs of students are met, who wish getting in touch with the latest, innovative fields of information technology and computing in civil engineering.

Due to the broad range of activities in teaching and research, IDAC offers students opportunities to write M.Sc. and B.Sc. theses in a plenitude of exciting topics ranging from basic research to applied science. IDAC closely cooperates with institutes in Germany and abroad that are working in the same or related fields. We encourage students to conduct studies abroad or to do project work together with students of other internationally renowned universities. Honors and awards achieved by our students may be found here: IDAC Hall of Fame.

Students having own topics in mind are cordially invited to contact a team member. Potential topics cover the whole range of engineering informatics, such as software applications for civil engineering (including databases), intelligent structural health monitoring systems, embedded systems/wireless sensor networks, building information modeling, blockchain technology, structural control, Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, cyber-physical systems, additive manufacturing, etc. A list of topics may be found here.
