Academy of Management Conference 2026

Paper presentation: "Hot Market, Cold Feet" and a Best Student Paper Nomination

Amanda Baum and Pauline Reinecke (Junior Professor for Business Administration, Leuphana University Lüneburg) attended this year's Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting, in Philadelphia, USA, where they took part in several Paper Development Workshops and discussed their work with scholars from across the international management community.

At the conference, they presented the paper "Hot Market, Cold Feet: Entrepreneurs' Storytelling Strategies Between Hype and Stigma," co-authored with Moritz Göldner. The paper examines how founders deal with conflicting investor reactions to innovative business ideas — particularly when these ideas address socially sensitive or, in some cases, taboo topics.

A particular highlight: the paper was shortlisted among the top four submissions for the Best Student Paper Award in the Strategy-as-Practice division — a wonderful recognition of the project and the conversations that shaped it.
