DVGW Research Centre TUHH

The DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) Research Centre at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is one of four water research institutions run by the DVGW. It is affiliated with the University’s Institute of Water Resources and Water Supply. This affiliation means that both institutions benefit from collaboration between experts as well as shared use of analysis equipment and laboratories. Our combination of academic education and practical application provides a basis for problem solving and technical innovation.

The research conducted at the DVGW Research Centre is linked to current practice. The centre provides advice to water companies and industrial corporations. Its research areas range from water collection to water treatment and distribution. They include, among others, the optimisation of water treatment processes, hygiene issues concerning water distribution, and energy efficiency. A key area of our work is the North German water supply with its special characteristics.

Providing scientific consultation, the DVGW-Research Centre TUHH is a field office of the Water Technology Centre (TZW) in Karlsruhe. We have close professional links, i.a. joint research projects, with the other DVGW research institutions, in addition to TZW (with field office in Dresden) with the IWW Water Centre in Mülheim/Ruhr and the DVGW Research Centre at the Engler-Bunte Institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). We also cooperate closely with the DVGW North Germany Group regarding consulting for water utilities in Northern Germany.
