The Institute of Photonics at Hamburg University of Technology focuses on nanophotonics, optical metasurfaces and metamaterials, and light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. Our research particularly explores all-dielectric, plasmonic, excitonic, and phonon-polaritonic systems, aiming to understand and control optical phenomena in strongly confined photonic environments. Building on these concepts, we develop new approaches for tunable optics, biochemical sensing and spectroscopy, photocatalysis, quantum light generation, and next-generation photonic technologies for information processing.
