On May 16, 2025, the Graduate Academy hosted the "Spring Onboarding: WiMis Getting Started" – an orientation and networking event designed for new research assistants. The event offered a comprehensive introduction to the university’s research environment and support structures, aiming to ease the transition into academic life at TUHH.
The program opened with welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Irina Smirnova, Vice President Research, followed by a keynote lecture from Prof. Dr. Maximilian Kiener on the ethical challenges facing junior scientists in engineering. Throughout the day, various speakers provided practical insights into research funding, international opportunities, equal opportunities, and good scientific practice.
Presentations in the afternoon shed light on representation structures and engagement opportunities for doctoral researchers. A highlight of the event was the campus rally, offering guided visits to key research facilities and services such as the Central Lab, BeEM, and the University Library.
The day concluded with an informal networking session over snacks and cold drinks, providing space for the new researchers to connect and exchange ideas.
