Midway Seminar 2017

The midway seminar took place on 18-22 April, 2017 in Barcelona. Students met each other and lecturers from different universities for the first time! It was a great event with visits to Castell de Montjuïc and Poble Espanyol. The students gave talks about their chosen advanced modules. During group exercises they learned how to interact within a group and get to know their group members much better. This included building of a tower made of straws and other given materials. In addition a voluntary personality test was done. The groups got to know their projects and the related companies and supervisors. They started to work highly focused on their project topics, so that an intermediate presentation containing the results so far was given at the end of the seminar. Overall, the seminar was very successful. The final seminar is scheduled for 17-21 July, 2017 in Hamburg!

Reimagine Education 2016 Award

Colibri has been shortlisted for the Reimagine Education Award for the second year in a row. Colibri is one of 120 projects competing for the award. Overall, more than 500 applications were submitted.

Teacher Training Seminar 2016

The third teacher training seminar took place on 12-16 October, 2016 in Riga. During the five-day seminar, the teachers developed and created new teaching materials with high focus on Colibri 2017. Furthermore, discussions about the experiences with the material from Colibri 2016 took place and capabilities for improvements like introduction of peer assessment workshops were identified. To that end, student’s evaluations and feedbacks were analyzed. Besides, it was focused on teaching methodologies. 

The Third Management Committee Meeting

The third management committee meeting took place on 26-27 September, 2016 in Berlin. During the meeting, the committee discussed the evaluation of Colibri 2016. Furthermore, detailed planning for the next and last year of Colibri was focused on. 

Colibri in TUHH magazine!

Here you find the link to an article that was published in the spektrum magazine of Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). The magazine has a circulation of 5000 printed copies and an online edition. Prof. Andreas Timm-Giel, Head in the Institute of Communication Networks, and four Colibri students were interviewed.

Final Seminar 2016

The final seminar took place on 11-15 July, 2016 in Barcelona. The students continued to work in their groups which were formed by four students from four different universities to work in real-life projects proposed by companies. At the end of the week, the examination of the course took place. The students presented their results of the project work in front of the other students and teachers. Each presentation took around 30 minutes. Midway Seminar 2016

The midway seminar took place on 18-22 April, 2016 in Bydogszcz. Students met each other and lecturers from different universities for the first time! On the first day, students tried to create the highest tower made of paper, paper clips and straws compared to the other groups during a collaboration exercise. Students conducted their assignment presentations on different topics from the advanced modules. The talks were discussed by the students and teachers. A guided city tour of Bydogszcz and a visit in the Museum of Soap and History of Dirt closed the day.

In the following days a special focus was placed on working in teams and improving presentation skills. On Thursday the students started to work on their assigned real-life group projects proposed by companies. In pitch presentations they showed their plans to solve their assigned problems. The groups made schedules for the remaining time until the final project seminar in July.

Colibri has been shortlisted for the “Reimagine Education” awards!

Already after the first year of Colibri we have been shortlisted for the Reimagine Education 2015 Awards, in the category of Hybrid Learning Innovation. Therefore, we were also invited to present the project in the conference, which was held in Philadelphia on December 7-9. The presentation was well received, and there was a good interest in the project which led to many good questions and discussions during the conference days. The conference was visited by many university teaching staff and decision makers, also making it a very good possibility for disseminating the Colibri results and experiences. The Reimagine Education conference is organized by QS Quacquarelly Symonds (who are known from the university rankings) in partnership with The Wharton School SEI Center of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Second Teacher Training Seminar

The second teacher training seminar took place on 7-11 October, 2015 in Athens. During the five-day seminar, the teachers developed and created new teaching materials with high focus on Colibri 2016. Furthermore, discussions about the experiences with the material from Colibri 2015 took place and capabilities for improvements were identified. To that end, student’s evaluations and feedbacks were analyzed. Besides, it was focused on teaching methodologies. Workshops regarding video lectures, peer learning and how to ensure student progression took place. The different module structure of Colibri 2016 compared to Colibri 2015 was pointed out. The new project proposals were discussed. A seminar about open access as well as the presentation of Colibri at CREATE-IT conference completed the program.

The Second Management Committee Meeting

The second management committee meeting took place on 3-4 September, 2015 in Berlin. During the meeting, the committee discussed and defined the description of the teaching materials for the Colibri 2016 course, as well as a plan for the physical and virtual mobilities.

Final Seminar 2015

The final seminar took place on 12-17 July, 2015 in Riga. During the seminar, the students presented their project work and discuss with other groups. All groups completed the projects very well. The course was successfully closed for the first year.

Midway Seminar 2015

The midway seminar took place on 12-17 April, 2015 in Istanbul. Students met each other and lecturers from different universitites for the first time. During the seminar, all course modules were wrapped up with FAQ panel. Additionally, students had chance to attend workshops on team work, writing and presentation skills. Finally, they got the project assignment and started some initial steps on the project.

Teacher Training Seminar

The first Colibri Teacher Training Seminar was successfully held from 21.11. to 25.11., in Hamburg, Germany. During the seminar, the consortiums discussed different issues in the course organization, teaching material preparation, and the plan for the upcoming mid-way seminar and project seminar.  

Kick-off Meeting in Athens

From September 29.-30., 2014, the Colibri Consortium met for the first time and had a successful Kick-off meeting at EKT (National Documentation Centre) in Athens. In the meeting, several issues in administrative procedures and project organisation have been discussed. In addition, the project partners also exchanged their experiences from previous projects/initiatives in ITC-based remote teaching and Open Educational Resources. Finally, the consortium discussed the offered course, decided on its scope, topics as well as learning objectives.
