Supplementary to the workshop, a Training Day is offered on 7 June, 2011 between 09:00 and 17:00. The training is most suitable for researchers who are familiar with the principles of SPH but are beginning their work in the field. More experienced SPH developers and users may find that the training day is a useful opportunity for sharing insights and ideas.
The training day is structured into two parts:
Prof. Stefano Sibilla from the Univ. of Pavia will provide an introduction to SPH methods and Prof. Rade Vignjevic from Cranfield Univ. will subsequently outline the use of SPH for solids and structures. The practical session in the afternoon will be given by Dr. Ben Rogers (Manchester Univ.), Dr. John Biddiscombe (Univ. Lausanne) and Dr. Alex Crespo (Vigo Univ.).
All software and data sets will be made available for participants in a PC class room. Related material can soon be downloaded prior to the training day from here.
The location of the training day is the main campus of the Hamburg Univ. of Technology (TUHH) in Hamburg-Harburg. The morning session will be held in Building "i, DE22", Denickestrasse 22. The afternoon session takes place in Building "L - DE17" room "3038P1". Travel information can be found here.
The Training Day additional fee is 100€. Participants have to register online on the Registration and Payment section.
