New publication: Energy-Dependent Chemical Interface Damping Induced by 1-Decanethiol Self-Assembled Monolayer on Au(111).

We investigated the chemical interface damping (CID) effect on Au(111) covered by a self-assembled monolayer of decanethiol. Using broadband spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements and density functional theory calculations, we disentangled and rationalized two CID contributions caused by induced roughness and direct charge transfer. The latter effect, in particular, is of interest for photoelectrochemistry, specifically for light-induced chemical reactions.
