Ernst Meyer, born 1922, since 1955 he had been working for BASF, at first in the area of vat dyes. 1962-1987 Leader of a working group on development and use of computer methods in chemistry documentation, 1988-1991 busy as subject controller for the German government (BMFT).
He is known "for playing a major role in revolutionizing chemical information technology through the use of computer methodology since the late 1950's for input and searching techniques for topological and fragment representation of chemical substances, including generic or Markush structures and considering structure-activity correlations." (Skolnik Award)
