William Lindley-scholarship to Dipl.-Ing. Kimmo Palmu

During the annual Wellingsbütteler discussion 20th of October 2011 the William Lindley-scholarship was awarded by HAMBURG WASSER to Mr. Kimmo Palmu. The aim of the scholarship is to promote interdisciplinary research by young professionals in water infrastructures. The scholarship in total 12.000 € was granted for a period of two years. He joined the institute 2011 in the project NEST-HTC. In this project the research on biochar is applied on urban biowaste through the hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). The HTC is a rediscovered process for the carbonization of biomass in low temperatures (>180°C) and with high water content.
