I3 Junior Projects

Formal Requirements:

An I3 Junior Project is an innovative project of two or more junior scientists. Funding is provided with the aim of starting an interesting or scientifically risky project for the duration of up to one year. The grant usually covers the costs of travel and consumables up to 10 k€. A maximum of ten projects will be awarded.

The selection criteria listed below are the same as for the more senior I3 Labs and I3 Projects. However, they will be applied with consideration to the experience level of the Junior Project participants and with special emphasis on innovative ideas.

PhD students and postdoctoral researchers may submit proposals by themselves, as it is assumed that they can receive advice on proposal writing in their institutes if necessary.

Bachelor or Master students must contact a senior scientist for mentoring and advice before submitting the proposal. All students are free in their choice of a mentor, but the mentor should have at least three years of postdoctoral research experience. It is strongly suggested that the mentor be contacted as early as possible and included in all stages of the proposal writing. Please contact Monika Kaempfe for help if you cannot find a suitable mentor.

All applications are to be submitted in English. The timeline of the call can be found here.

Proposals not adhering to the formal rules will be rejected without scientific review.

Please direct questions to Dr. Monika Kaempfe, Research Coordinator, at monika.kaempfe(at)tuhh.de.

Selection Criteria:

·       Scientific quality
