Installation of the printers in Windows
We offer two variants for the installation of the printers. Which one is the correct one can be answered by the following question:
Do I log on to my computer with the TUHH account that I also use, for example, for mailing, Stud.IP, etc.?
Is the answer YES? Follow the instructions for personalized printing.
Is the answer NO? Follow the instructions for anonymous printing AND additionally you have to install the PaperCut client.

The print management system receives the incoming jobs and tries to assign them to a known TUHH account. When sending the print jobs from your computer, the current user name is used. If this matches a known TUHH account, the system can clearly assign the jobs.
In order to still be able to match the local user name to a TUHH account, an additional client is necessary and a different print queue is used. Thats why we need to offer two different installation packages.
Installation of the printers for personalized printing
Important: Only use this variant for the printer installation if you have answered YES to the initial question.
To install the printers in Windows you can run the printer installation package.
You have to allow some system changes using your administrative privileges, therefore the package was digitally signed to guarantee that the TUHH RZ is the original author.
What happens during the installation?
- Old traces of previous TUHH printer installations are removed.
- The official lightweight PaperCut Postcript Driver is installed (without own DLLs).
- This driver is cloned several times to plant the device settings required by the TUHH.
- The TUHH IPP printerports are configured.
- The TUHH Printers are added, using these drivers and ports.

After the installation, give the print spooler a minute to recognize the changes.
You should see the printers TUHH-Default_A4-A3, TUHH-CAD_A3-A0, TUHH-Poster_A3-A0. If this is not the case, the PC may have to be restarted.
Don't forget to connect to the TUHH Campus network before you start printing.

Important: Only use this variant for the printer installation if you have answered NO to the initial question.
You have to install the printer drivers and the PaperCut client!

Installation of the PaperCut client for anonymous printing
The PaperCut client is required to personalize anonymously sent print jobs so that they can subsequently be released for printing.
It is an installation package that would be multi-part, that is why we merged it into an executable self-extractor so that there is only one executable to download.
What happens during installation?
- The PaperCut client is unpacked with embedded Java into the Program Files folder
- An entry "PaperCut MF Client" is created in the Start menu
- A registry based autorun entry will be created so that the PaperCut client will run automatically in the background during future logins.
- The PaperCut client will NOT be started automatically right after installation

If you want PaperCut client to work right after installation, you can launch it from the Start menu.
The uninstallation can be done as usual via the Control Panel.
Removing the printers
To remove the printer objects, printer drivers and printer ports from Windows, you can rerun the printer installation package and take the offer to abort during the initialization.
This way, all old traces are purged from the system and no refresh will occur.
We spared a separate uninstall routine this way.
Alternatively, all elements of the installation are also easily removable manually using the system settings in the printers section.
Information for administrators
To distribute the installation package, it can be run with the '-Y' switch and it will skip the welcome dialog.
There is no log option.
Internal script errors will cause controlled failures and the installer passes on errorcodes.
Questions/Support
Your printing quota was transferred from Studidruck to PaperCut. Please release your print jobs personally in front of the printer (FollowMe Print).
