[BBB] BigBlueButton video conferencing system with BlockNote

The BigBlueButton video conferencing system now offers the new BlockNote editor for shared notes instead of Etherpad.

The BigBlueButton video conferencing system is running on the latest version. A new feature in shared notes is the BlockNote editor, which replaces Etherpad. BlockNote supports Markdown when writing. Markdown documents can also be imported and used as presentation or presented as PDF file.

Web services back online

On July 8th, several web services were taken offline due to a discovered vulnerability. The Data Centre subsequently developed an effective workaround to bring the services back online. The stability of this workaround is continuously being tested to ensure smooth and reliable operation in the long term.

With this caveat in mind, we are pleased to announce that the services are now fully available again.

WebVPN service is being discontinued

Unfortunately, we must discontinue the WebVPN service as of August 31, 2026, because the manufacturer has discontinued support for this feature.

WebVPN allows users to access internal websites via a web browser without having to launch a VPN client.

We ask the few users of this service to use the VPN Client instead.

Zur Erhöhung der Servicequalität und Erreichbarkeit werden die Dienstleistungen des TUHH-Rechenzentrums - User Service Center (USC), WLAN-Beratung und Druckzentrum - künftig im neuen IT-ServiceCenter (ITSC) zusammengeführt.

Das ITSC finden Sie ab dem 03.08.2026 in Denickestraße 17, Gebäude L, 3. Stock, Raum 3.024.

Several services offline for security reasons

Several services are momentarily unavailable due to a severe security issue.

Several service have just been taken offline due to a severe security issue. As of writing this, we are working the problem, yet we are are waiting for security patches to become available for the affected systems.

We will post on this channel, as there are updates on this topic.

Update: Maintenance of Mail-List-Server

Yesterday, the update of the mailing list server could not be completed, so the old system is still up and running. The lists are accessible under @tuhh.de. The data center is analyzing the problems and will provide further information.

Wir führen am 17. Februar 2026 ein Upgrade durch für lists.tuhh.de - zwischen 10 und ca. 13 Uhr wird der Server nicht zur Verfügung stehen. Nachrichten, die in der Zeit auflaufen, werden nach erfolgtem Upgrade automatisch verteilt. Es ist nicht notwendig, diese noch einmal zu versenden.

Das gilt im Übrigen auch für lists.hcu-hamburg.de und lists.hfmt-hamburg.de .....
