Abstract: We present an analytical description of cascaded, multi-wavelength, and tunable Raman fiber lasers based on the round-trip conditions required for each laser line. This model provides a better insight into the interactions between individual laser lines. Applying some simplifications, an approximate analytical solution for the power distribution in the laser can be found, which is used as a very good initial guess for a fast and accurate calculation of the exact power distribution with a numerical collocation solver. The presented method reduces the time needed for the calculation of complex laser setups by several orders of magnitude.
