Joint Workshop at Seoul National University

A delegation of three Ph.D. students from the Institute of Communications (INT) and Prof. Gerhard Bauch have visited the Seoul National University (SNU), ranked number one among the Korean universities, for a workshop. The workshop is intended to promote the exchange between Korean and German researchers. The workshop was funded by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and the Korean National Research Fund (NRF).

During the stay in Seoul, the German delegation enjoyed the hospitality of the Institute of New Media and Communications (INMAC) at Seoul National University. During the three day workshop, both sides enjoyed interesting presentations concerning cutting-edge research topics, as well as inter-cultural exchange. In addition, the German Ph.D. students had the unique opportunity to inspect all 17 research labs of the Insititute of New Media and Communications to identify mutual research interests during vivid discussions with the Korean students. Special thanks go to Prof. Jae Hong Lee, Prof. Byonghyo Shim, and Prof. Jungwoo Lee for organizing the workshop jointly with Prof. Gerhard Bauch, as well as to the DAAD and the NRF for the financial support of this workshop.

The workshop was the kick-off for a more intense cooperation between the Institute of Communications of TUHH and Seoul National University. This cooperation will also exchange master and Ph.D. students.  A second edition of the workshop will be hosted by the Institute of Communications at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in January 2017.
