Jan Slavík is a vice-dean for science and research at the Faculty of Social and Economic Studies and research projects coordinator at the IEEP, Institute for Economic and Environmental Policy (Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Usti and Labem, Czech Republic). Jan Slavík graduated at the University of Economics in Prague with the specialization on Environmental Economics and Policy. In 2005 he did a research internship in the Institute for Public Economics at the University of Cologne (Germany). In 2009 he finished a Ph.D. program and defended his dissertation ‘Effectiveness of a deposit system on one-way containers in the Czech Republic’. His long-term research interests include: economic evaluation of environmental policy instruments (especially in the waste management), recycling behavior, socio-demographic consequences of the waste management, competition at the waste collection market, optimization of the municipal waste management (collection routes, localization of containers etc.).
