BioEcole - Biogenic resources and process engineering basics of bioeconomy - development of e-learning materials

Project Management Dr. Anne Rödl
Funding: FNR – Agency for renewable raw materials (Germany)
Project volume: 24 Months
Project term: 04/2021 - 03/2023

The aim of the project is to create e-learning materials on process engineering topics in the field of "Biogenic Resources and Bioeconomy", which will then be made available publicly and free of charge. In this way, both students and other interested members of the public will have access to comprehensibly prepared information on proven as well as innovative processes for the processing, conversion or refinement of biogenic raw materials. One focus is on the digital presentation of current university research results in the field of "bioeconomy". Scientific publications from journals or textbooks are made available or summarized and linked for in-depth study of the topics. In addition, digital video- and audio-based learning modules are developed, which can be worked through interactively and individually. Videos and interviews with experts are integrated, background information and additional materials are provided, and small tests are included to test the level of knowledge. The following topics are addressed in the materials:

•    Backgrounds Definition of bioeconomy
•    Resources for the bioeconomy (availability & properties)
•    Processes for the bioeconomy
•    Biogas
•    Bio-based aviation fuel
•    Construction
•    Biorefinery concept
•    Aspects of sustainability and environmental protection
