The course by Prof. Dr. Wrona and Prof. Dr. Reichertz (Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities, Essen) familiarizes doctoral students with the process and methods of qualitative and method-integrative management research. In addition to discussing specific qualitative data collection and analysis methods, the course also addresses scholarly practices related to transforming data into text—that is, how, during and after the analysis, one can not only extract (reconstruct) concepts and theoretical elements from the data through the act of writing, but also render them accessible and relevant to the scientific community. The aim of the course is therefore to provide participants with the necessary methodological tools to carry out qualitative or method-integrative research work and to reflect critically on the application of qualitative methods, their indication and their findings.
The Qualitative Research Methods course, as well as the Philosophy of Science course also taught by Prof. Dr. Wrona, has been part of the core curriculum of the VHB-Prodok since 2010.
VHB-ProDok is the offer of the Association of University Professors of Business Administration (VHB) to support the education of doctoral students in business administration. The offer consists of various overarching and department-specific courses, which are offered at regular intervals and supplement doctoral training in business administration.
