What I like about mechatronics, the hybrid of mechanics, electronics and computer science, is facing the broad field of challenges. This brought me as intern and working student from electric motors on subway trains over controller development for avionics equipment ventilation to gas turbine simulation for ship applications. Getting to know different fields in Engineering teaches you new continuously and keeps your work interesting. In my current research project, I develop a maritime Sensor Platform, which will float in the ocean to transmit measuring data from different domains. Besides the autonomous energy supply to guarantee a long lifetime, the reduction of the ecological footprint is a major challenge. This requirement offers the interdisciplinary work with scientists from different areas and leads me to new technologies.
