Research Presented at CEAS GNC Conference 2026

Dr.-Ing. Oliver Luderer presented the paper “Impact of Model Fidelity on Load and State Estimation in Hybrid Observers Using Wind Tunnel Data” at the CEAS Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference 2026 in Madrid.

The work investigates the influence of physical model fidelity on load and state estimation within a hybrid load observer using wind tunnel data from the Dimona flexible test wing. Compared with a conventional LPV extended Kalman filter based on a high-fidelity physical model, the results demonstrate that the hybrid approach achieves improved load estimation performance even when using a lower-fidelity flight dynamics model. In addition, the study provides further insight into how model uncertainties influence the estimation of aeroelastic states.

The conference brought together around 200 participants and provided valuable opportunities for scientific exchange and discussion.
