THEMEN

Das MagIC forscht unter der Leitung von Prof. Karl Ulrich Kainer schwerpunktmäßig an Magnesiumwerkstoffen für verschiedenste Anwendungen (z.B. Verkehrstechnik und Medizintechnik). Ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf der Legierungsentwicklung und auf Arbeiten zur Optimierung von vorhandenen und neuen Verarbeitungsprozessen. Um ein optimales Eigenschaftsspektrum beim Einsatz des Werkstoffes Magnesium zu erhalten, sind wissensbasierte Grundlagenarbeiten und anwendungsspezifische Untersuchungen notwendig. Das MagIC bietet dafür ausgewiesene Kompetenzen und eine entsprechende Ausstattung. Das MagIC gliedert sich in die Abteilungen Magnesiumprozesstechnik, Magnesiumknetlegierungen und Korrosion- und Oberflächentechnik.
