Interdisciplinarity

At the TUHH interdisciplinary work is “lived” from the first semester onward because engineering is characterized by a high level of interdisciplinarity. Interdisciplinary work is undertaken at the TUHH both in individual study programs and across subjects. In their study programs students work together in an interdisciplinary manner in, for example, project weeks, project planning courses, special research projects and as part of work on their degree theses. Interdisciplinarity is a key feature of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Project (IDP) and the programs offered by the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU), in which current problems are dealt with in an interdisciplinary way across universities. Programs cover the entire study period and promote student readiness to think and act cooperatively across disciplines.
