Language Courses at TUHH

We are delighted that you are interested in the language courses offered by the TUHH and hope that the following will give you a good idea of what is available. If you feel that information is missing or if you have queries, please make use of this contact opportunity.

Semester-time Language Courses

In principle, our semester-time language courses are open to all TUHH-members. A number of special offerings are, however, reserved for, say, students on English-language study programs or for PhD students. The following table shows the offering and any restrictions on entitlement to attend. The number of credits that count toward your studies is also listed. For further information about the courses please use the links in the table. Current courses are listed in the course catalog.

* =  Master’s students on English-language study programs are required by the Subject-Specific Examination Regulations to provide one-off proof of 4 credits earned by taking part in one of these courses. (This does not apply to master’s students who have passed a German exam that exempts them from this requirement in accordance with Annex 1 to the Study Regulations.) The missing 2 credits for the non-technical mandatory course module may be selected from the entire course offering at the TUHH. A further master’s course in German is an additional option that counts as 2 credits.

Preliminary courses for studying German as a Foreign Language (DaF)

At the beginning of the winter semester the TUHH offers preliminary courses in German as a Foreign Language for students on English-language master’s study programs and for exchange students. Click here for more information about these courses.
