The institute is involved in numerous third-party funded research projects and maintains close contact to industrial partners of various branches. Within versatile projects, scientific questions regarding up-to-date research topics are dealt with.

The BMU funded BORA project aims for the development of a profound simulation model to predict sound levels due to the foundation of offshore wind turbines. Therefore various sound transmission paths (structure-water and structure-soil-water) as well as relevant sound mitigation systems are accounted for. The simulation model is validated by three offshore measurement campaigns at different wind farms within the German Bight.

COMPILE is an international benchmark study on the calculation of offshore pile driving noise. By defining realistic pile driving scenarios, calculation results of different models will be qualitatively and quantitatively compared to enable estimating their individual dis-/advantages.
